During your pregnancy, I will assess your individual risk of developing gestational diabetes. If you have an average risk, I will recommend a screening test during your second trimester. However, if you have risk factors such as obesity, a previous history of gestational diabetes, or a strong family history of diabetes, I may recommend testing earlier in your pregnancy so that we can identify and manage the condition as soon as possible.

If you are diagnosed with gestational diabetes, I will explain the type you have and create a personalized treatment plan that is right for you. Class A1 gestational diabetes can often be managed with healthy eating, regular physical activity, and careful blood sugar monitoring. Class A2 gestational diabetes requires additional treatment, such as insulin or other medications, to keep your blood sugar levels within a safe range. Throughout your pregnancy, I will work closely with you to help you maintain good blood sugar control through lifestyle modifications, regular monitoring, and ongoing prenatal care. By managing gestational diabetes effectively, we can significantly reduce the risk of complications and help you and your baby achieve the healthiest possible pregnancy and delivery.
