Your Multiple Pregnancy Journey with Me
When you choose me to care for your pregnancy, I’ll be with you every step of the way, from your first visit until the birth of your babies. I provide comprehensive care for all types of multiple pregnancies, including twins and higher-order multiples. Because every pregnancy is different, I personalize your follow-up based on your specific type of multiple pregnancy and any risks that may arise. If complications such as preterm birth, preeclampsia, selective fetal growth restriction, or other complex conditions develop, I have the expertise to manage them. If needed, I can also evaluate whether fetal surgery is the best option for you and your babies.
At every visit, I’ll perform a detailed ultrasound to monitor your babies’ heartbeats, positions, growth, amniotic fluid, and blood flow through the placenta. I’ll also guide you through the recommended tests throughout your pregnancy, including first-trimester screening with ultrasound and blood tests, routine blood work during each trimester, the glucose screening test between 24 and 28 weeks, the pertussis vaccine between 27 and 32 weeks, and a vaginal-rectal culture at 33 to 34 weeks. In all monochorionic pregnancies, a fetal echocardiogram will be requested from 13-14 weeks and another at 20-22 weeks due to the increased risk of heart defects; sometimes it is also necessary to perform a neurosonography to evaluate the fetal brain.
